My chosen entity is a book publishing company that I have made up for the purpose of this class, which will go by the name H&K Publishers. The purpose of the social media campaign is to promote the upcoming release of a book called “The Red Umbrella” by author Reda Hofbock. The target audience of the social media campaign is the same demographic that the book is marketed towards. Ideally they would be fans of previous successful young adult novels such as The Fault in Our Stars, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Hunger Games, 13 Reasons Why, The Maze Runner etc. Statistically the target audience is female, and despite marketing and classifying the novel as young adult literature, statistically my audience are adults. 55% to be specific, with the largest chunk of this group being in the 30-44 age range. A large portion of these adults are active on social networks and get recommendations from friends through these media sites, the most active sites being Facebook and Twitter. My target audience is well read, active on social media, and avid fans of literature. Although these statistics specify majorities of my audience, I will not be marketing the social media campaign solely towards them.
